There once was a day when you could proudly say if you were a member of a Waverly Tiger Athletic Team that your facilities were a step above the rest. You knew you were a member of a special group and that people around you cared. For some, it may have been all they had. From the uniforms to the facilities, the people of Waverly wanted you to have the best and that meant something! You wanted to go play your heart out for that type of commitment, and those efforts usually carried over into the classroom.

While our basketball program still enjoys one of the finest facilities around, our students in other sports are suffering. The football team is dressing in the basketball facility. Our soccer, tennis, cross country, track, and junior high programs must come dressed and ready to go. The only semblance of a locker room is under the stadium, and a perpetually leaking roof has left it uninhabitable. The stadium itself is in disrepair, and although structurally cleared by engineers at this point, one walk around will tell you that its days are numbered.

Obviously times are tough right now, and our school system doesn't have the funds to pay for these improvements. That's why we are asking for your help! We understand everybody's situation is different, and that's why we've tried to create a way for all Tiger fans to give. From the person who can afford to give their time to the larger donors, it will take us all to make this a place in which our kids and community can once again be proud! We appreciate your consideration in investing in our most precious asset ......... the young people of our community!

The Downtown Athletic Complex Renovation is Being Broken Down into a Three Phase Plan as Follows:

Phase 1 is already under way with board approval of the Field House and appropriation of $75,000 to get the project off the ground.

Phase 1: Construction of a 7,500 square foot field house to include three locker rooms, a multipurpose room, a training room, storage rooms, public restrooms, and office space.

Phase 2: New home stadium and press box, and visitor bleachers.

Phase 3: Synthetic field turf, track resurfacing, and tennis court resurfacing.

The estimated total amount needed to accomplish all three phases is 2.2 million dollars.

The Waverly Athletic Facilities Committee is independent of the Waverly City School Board of Education, although all funds will be channeled through and distributed by the Waverly School District to fund the planned facility projects. The members of the Waverly Athletic Facilities Committee are donating their time, and no members will be compensated in any manner for service.
